From Max Holstein,
Here are pictures from Rolling Thunder 2006. This was an awesome
experience that pictures can't possibly due justice. There were probably
400,000+ bikes all crammed into the Pentagon parking lots then made the ride
to "The Wall". We were lucky, thanks to Ron Moore, the Nam Knights
invited us as their guests to ride in their group. We were in the first
1,000 bikes to leave on the ride. The last bike was out of the parking lot
about 3 + hours later. Perhaps one of the most moving parts of the
experience was when we turned off the interstate on to Constitution Ave &
saw the streets lined with people waving flags and providing support. Then
on to the Viet Nam Memorial and the walk by the Wall where you could almost
hear a pin drop.
This was perhaps the most moving Memorial Day weekend that I have ever
spent. I was raised in a military family so I have always had a deep
respect for our Vets however it grew tremendously this weekend.
